Al Ghashiya V.1-26
[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,
Working [hard] and exhausted.
They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. [Al Ghashiya:2-4]
Reading over this lesson these verses are now stuck in my mind. Each day I see people all around me, just as I am sure you also do. Every person is running towards something; early in the morning people are rushing in their cars, walking somewhere with a purpose, on the bus going some place to do what is needed of them to survive. Each person is striving towards something and working hard.
What is stuck in my head is that so many of these people tire themselves out from working and working- earning whatever they can. However, some of these people will be sent to hellfire and all they did will be in vain. How can it be? I question myself. It is because this effort and struggle, the daily rush and run is towards worldly gain and benefit; in attaining the world we are losing the hereafter. Let us set the example for others to follow, it is not worth losing our hereafter over a few pennies of extra salary, let us strive towards something better and more lasting.
