What struck me most is Surah Mulk. We recite it every night but very seldom do we ponder upon it. Allah tells us in ayah 2 and 3 to look and examine at the seven heavens and see if there is any fault in it. This command is repeated twice more to emphasize one point – the Maginifence of the Creator. This command makes me think of our Rabb- the Creator, Planner, Nourisher. He created a perfect system in the heavens and earth. All the animals, plants, trees, clouds, etc. work in complete harmony during the day and night doing what is required of them and glorifying Allah. Recently I got a chance to travel north where there is very limited residence. I sat outside at night and looked at the moon and remembered this ayah.
We are often too busy in the city to notice the stars, and the moon. It shone perfectly. I then also realized that the best of creation is mankind. The moon, which is not of the best of creation, was doing its job so well. But the best of creation is not fulfilling its purpose to worship Allah. The interesting part was the thought process that went in my head also made me realize mankind has the ability to recognize its Creator from the signs of Allah- like the moon. But for that one should look to the heavens and earth whose’s perfection is mentioned in Surah Mulk in these 2 ayahs. These ayahs also remind me to turn only to Allah because He is the one who created this perfect system and is maintaining it.
