Listen To Understand
Inshaw Hussain (Al Huda Student)
And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the destination.
When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.
It almost bursts with rage. Every time a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, “Did there not come to you a warner?”
They will say,” Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, ‘Allāh has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.’ ” [Al Mulk:6-9]
What struck me most about this surah was when the disbeleivers will be entered into Jahannum and then they’ll be asked by the angels if a person who would warn them had come to them, indicating the fact that it’s almost impossible for a person to get to Jahannum. They will say that a person did warn them but they decided to disbelieve and said that Allah (SWT) didn’t send anyone to them. Then they’ll regret; if only they had listened and understood what was being said to them they would not have entered Jahannum. Emphasizing the importance of listening and understanding what is being said to a person. If we don’t listen or understand, we’ll be lost in the Dunya, and completely lost in the Akhira.
May Allah (SWT) protect us all from being among the As-haab is Sa’eer, Ameen.-
