Save Oneself
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allāh in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. [At Tahreem:6]

What strikes me in this verse is that Allah (swt) did not say save your family and then yourselves. It is mentioned to first save oneself in order to even qualify to save ones family. If we are not aware of what leads to heaven or hell how can we inform our family or lead them to do what is righteous?
So we should change our direction and everyday ask ourselves what have I done today to save myself from the hellfire? And what have I done today to save my family from the hellfire?
