She was told, “Enter the palace.” But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, “Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass.” She said, “My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.” [An Naml:44]
The Queen of Sheba had been worshipping other than Allah (swt) as it was something that she had been accustomed to. When she heard of the truth from Sulaiman (as) she accepted. The significance of mentioning that she uncovered her shins is to show that she was not used to having marble floor and so she thought it was water. From this we learn that if you are accustomed to something and it is all you know then you will believe it, but when you are shown the truth it is clear to see and accept. Just as she hadn’t seen the marble before she also had not known about the oneness of Allah (swt).
