Slave to Desires

Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? [Al Furqan:43]
There are some people who believe that they do not worship anything. However, the reality is that everyone worships something whether in the form of God or something more hidden. Those who claim they worship nothing are actually slaves of their desires. They do what they want to and however they want to. They will do anything to fulfill their desires putting it before even their priorities. This is the example of one who has his desires as his god. We should check ourselves: are we fulfilling our desires more than the commands of Allah (swt)?
