Companions

Medihah Hussain (Group Ruqayyah)
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allāh, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites it is they who are the defiantly disobedient. [At Tawbah:67]
From this verse I got the very important lesson that the people that are your friends and whom you spend a lot of your time with are the people that reflect who you are. My dad would always tell me that friends reflect a persons identity but I never believed him. Now I realize that your companions give an idea of the type of person you are and so we should be careful about the people we choose to associate with. Are they bringing us closer or taking us away from Allah?
