Shedding Skin

And recite to them, [O Muúammad], the news of him to whom we gave [knowledge of] Our signs, but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him, and he became of the deviators. [Al A’raaf:175]
The word detached here comes from an Arabic word which has the literal meaning of when a snake sheds it skin. It is used in this context as when the snake sheds the skin it becomes completely detached from the old skin and comes out in a new one. In this manner if you detach from the signs completely you come out with a different skin, a skin that is desired by that individual. Below is a picture to show the complete coming out of the snake.
