Student of Al Huda
And ask them about the town that was by the sea when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient. [Al A’raaf:163]
The Jews were commanded not to do any worldly work on the Sabbath day and instead they were supposed to only devote themselves to Allah. However there became three groups concerning this matter. One group put out their nets on Friday night so fish would be caught until Sunday. The second group did not participate but told those who were participating it was wrong. The third group neither put out their nets nor told them to stop and rather told the second group to leave them as Allah would punish them. When the command came group one and three were turned into apes. From this we learn a huge lesson that if you see wrong then stop it because you may be held accountable for not saying anything.
