No Saviour
So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers].
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones]. Then see how was the end of the criminals. [Al A’raaf: 83-84]
The nation of Lut (as) was one in which homosexuality was prominent. This was the first time that this had occurred. As they did not hear the warnings of the prophet the destruction was to come down. When it came Lut (as) and his family ran and they were told not to look back. Lut (as) wife looked back and was struck by the punishment. The reason was because she felt sympathy for them and even this was a crime. We learn from this that if we see wrong we should not be involved in it in any manner and nor should we feel sorry for those people. Also no relation can save us from the punishment of Allah, being the wife of a prophet did not help Lut (as) wife and nor will any of our relative benefit us.
