Affliction For Sins

Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear. [Al A’raaf: 100]
This verse is also talking to us although we like to think that it is not. This verse tells us to take a lesson from all those nations that were destroyed before us. Many times we see ruins of a city and what do we do? Pull out the camera and start taking pictures so we can show the world we saw the ruins of such and such place. This is heedlessness; we should be taking a lesson from every single nation that has passed. If Allah was to punish us for our sins who can stop Him? Fear Allah and seek forgiveness.
