Don’t Remind Me

Student of Al Huda
Today I had the most amazing experience, something that was mentioned in class had happened to me just the day before and I was able to relate to the verse so much better.
Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allāh and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. [Al Baqarah:262]
It reminded me of an incident when someone close to me had lent me some money because I was staying away from home and at that time did not have any. At that time she was very nice about it and said I could keep it until I went home. However, the next day the whole world knew that I had borrowed money from her and some looked at me as though I was one of those lonely and poor children you see on the orphan channel. I was extremely upset by this which is why I really clicked with this verse. If you are going to spend, don’t remind! Just most on and do the next good you can.
