Power of God

Fasiha Memon (Group Aisha)
Have you not considered the one who argued with Abraham about his Lord [merely] because Allāh had given him kingship? When Abraham said, “My Lord is the one who gives life and causes death,” he said, “I give life and cause death.” Abraham said, “Indeed, Allāh brings up the sun from the east, so bring it up from the west.” So the disbeliever was overwhelmed [by astonishment], and Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people. [Al Baqarah: 258]
We are all too acquainted with the people who like to deny the existence of God. Many of them say they are the highest being that there is living. However, when someone said that he gives life and death (hinting he has the powers of Allah) Ibrahim (as) said Allah (swt) brings the sun from the east so bring it from the west. From this we see the smart tactic of Ibrahim (as). He could have started to argue with the man and say that he does not give life nor death but instead he moved onto the next point. At this point the non believer was dumbfounded.
This is a reminder for anyone who thinks there is nothing higher than them that if you think you are the highest of beings then why is it you do not control the nature? Does nature go by your commands or Allah’s? How many of us can stop the sun from coming up and uproot a mountain with one look? None of us and that is why we should be careful of what we say and how we make people think about their beliefs. Instead of arguing bring a stronger point. We can not mess with the power of God.
