Automatic Acceptance

Student of Al Huda
And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], “Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing. [Al Baqarah:127]
Ibrahim (as) and his son Ishmael (as) are raising the foundations of the kabbah. This is the central place for muslims from the past until modern day. The task of putting together the home which is the worshipping place of Allah is a huge responsibility but Ibrahim and Ishmael (as) do not hesitate on acting upon the commands of Allah. We struggle when we are given the responsibility of taking out the garbage on a day when it is snowing and then we wonder why we are not blessed with more responsibilities from Allah?
I was imagining if one of us today was given the task from Allah to put the foundations of the house of worship together. We would all fight each other and then the ones who would end up doing it would be smiling into peoples faces and rubbing it in that they are now somehow more special than everyone else. We would not be able to walk on the ground due to the grandeur we would feel of having such a responsibility.
Yet it shocked me that at this time when they were putting the kabbah together instead of acting arrogant or proud the two of them are asking Allah to accept their efforts. We never do this no matter what it is that we have done. Anytime we do something it is with the assumption that Allah has accepted everything from us but this verse taught me that we should ask Allah to accept the deeds that we do. We never know what will be accepted and what will not so we should take a lesson from the way the two prophets acted.
Subhanallah, it was due to the sheer desire to please Allah that Ibrahim (as) was granted the blessing of righteous offspring and descendants that were guided.
