Good speech

Student of Al Huda
There are two points in class today that really touched my heart. The first was how as Muslims we should have husnaan in our speech. We should remember that the angels are recording every word that comes out of our mouths. It is a true shame that the language of the sunnah is being distorted and shortened in to slang words which rid the words of their meanings. This made me realize just how easily the sunnah can be lost if we do not preserve it. As I am new to the religion, I lacked confidence when uttering new words in Arabic that I had learned for fear of sounding like a fool. Todays class has given me the determination, inshallah, to speak with confidence and complete my sentences in order that the angels can record each and every word – even my mistakes.
The second thing that I learnt was how Bani Israel humiliated themselves by fighting amongst themselves. This also stands for the muslims of today who are always quarrelling amongst each other and not realizing that at the end of the day they are brother and sister. I know this is not on the same scale but Subhanallah this immediately made me think about my attitude towards my children and how easily I sometimes complain to my friends and others about their faults. Oh you know my son did this today and my son did that – I may not be physically fighting with my family but subhanallah, in class today I learnt speaking against your family is humiliating yourself. Inshallah I shall try my utmost best to speak good about my family and take my complaints to the prayer mat.
If we could all just remember these two points the muslims would be a lot stronger than they currently stand.
