Supernatural
And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden.
And they had thought, as you thought, that Allāh would never send anyone [as a messenger].
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.
And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. [Al Jinn: 6-10]
I thought the lesson from these verses was significant for us because many of us fall into the trap of believing that jinn have some supernatural powers. Although jinn are created of fire and have some abilities that humans do not have they have not been given the knowledge and understanding that man has. They do not know the unseen and nor can they tell humans their fortune. Many of us rely on them regarding news of our futures but it is in vain; these verses are evidence that they know nothing more than we do.
