Maryam V.66-98
Open Enemy
No! Those “gods” will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement]. [Maryam:82]
Picture yourself having a best friend whom you love dearly and with whom you spend most of your time. You devote time and love to this friend and in the end not only do you get nothing back from them but they turn against you and they disassociate from you. What is the feeling you would have? You would feel betrayal and hurt. This is the state of those who worship other than Allah (Swt). Whatever they call other than Him will be their enemy on the last day and they will not benefit them in any way.

Hikmah
[Mention] when he said to his father, “O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all? [Maryam:42]
There are many occasions where we have to speak to our parents and stop them from doing something that they should not be doing. In telling our parents we always forget having wisdom and instead we start accusing them and becoming rude. We should take a lesson from the way Ibrahim (as) spoke in a questioning way while remembering his status as a son. This shows that we must always remember our relations when dealing with people.

Weeping And Prostrating

Those were the ones upon whom Allāh bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping. [Maryam:58]
Check yourself: when you hear the Qur’an what is your reaction? Arrogant and boastful or weeping and prostrating?

Maryam V.1-40
Beauty Of Dua
He said, “My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy. [Maryam:4]
Last month I was very sick and felt as though all the strength that I had was gone. At this time I did dua to Allah (swt) to remove this harm from me. I thought that my dua was very beautiful at that time, however, after reading this dua I see that when we are making dua instead of complaining or talking about what it is that is bothering us we should always remember to show our hope in Allah (swt). Zakariya (as) did not fail in telling Allah (swt) that he never felt unfortunate in his duas.

Glorify
So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allāh] in the morning and afternoon. [Maryam:11]
Had I been in the same situation as Zakariya (as) where I was granted a child in such old age the first thing I would have done is to tell everyone I possibly know. I learnt a really big lesson for myself from his example because instead of going around and telling everyone the good news he asked them to glorify Allah (swt). Never forget to be thankful to the one who has blessed you.

Hardwork

But he called her from below her, “Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. [Maryam: 24-25]
The story of Maryam (as) was one of the most beautiful stories I have read. I tried to picture myself in her place. At the time when a woman gives birth it is a very intense feeling and takes up a lot of that woman’s energy.
It felt so relaxing and calming that at the time immediately after having given birth Maryam (as) is told that there is a stream that Allah (swt) has made for her. Not only is there a stream but Allah (swt) tells her to shake the date palm tree so dates will fall on her and she can eat them.
A very important lesson I learnt for myself from these verses is that we always have to work to get something done. Maryam (as) has just given birth and instead of Allah (swt) saying that He will drop the dates for her He tells her to shake the tree. We must never give up or feel that we are in a state in which we can not put in more effort. Even at such a hard time Maryam (as) had to put in the work to see the outcome so how do we expect to be given something without having worked for it?

Negation
It is not [befitting] for Allāh to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is.
[Jesus said], “And indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.” [Maryam:35-36]
The Qur’an in many places negates the belief of some that Allah (swt) could have a child. Here again we see that Allah (swt) has completely denied that he could have a son and Jesus (as) himself is saying that Allah is the Lord. It is not befitting that anyone says Jesus (as) is anything other than a servant of the most merciful.

Day Of Regret
And warn them, [O Muúammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe. [Maryam:39]
I always wondered why the Day Oj Judgment is also called the Day of Regrets. Today in class we spoke about how those that will have done so much good will have regrets that they could have done more and those who will have missed the opportunities to do good that came up will also be in regret. Everyone will wish that they had used their time wisely rather than wasting it in the useless. The main lesson to learn is to do as much good as you possibly can while you have the chance, each and every small or big deed will count.
