Al Kahf V.99-110
Presenting Hellfire
And We will present Hell that Day to the Disbelievers, on display –
Those whose eyes had been within a cover [removed] from My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. [Al Kahf: 100-101]
There are many people who are physically seeing but are spiritually blind. They are those who deny the signs of Allah (swt) and do not recognize the truth from the falsehood. In this life they are blind towards the signs and do not want to see them. However, on the Day of Judgment they will be forced to see what it is that they were denying. On that day there will be no place to run to for refuge.

Al Kahf V.64-98
Strive For Knowledge
And they found a servant from among Our servants to whom we had given mercy from us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.
Moses said to him, “May I follow you on [the condition] that you teach me from what you have been taught of sound judgement?” [Al Kahf: 65-66]
After having learnt the story of Musa (as) and Khadr (as) I was thinking about how important it is to gain knowledge in ones life. Prophet Musa (as) was a prophet but still Allah (swt) told him that he should go and increase his knowledge. From this I learnt that if you want to learn then you have to follow the teacher and listen carefully. I really liked when Khadr (as) told Musa (as) that you have to have patience with me. This shows that it is essential that one is patient when he is on a journey to gain knowledge. It really struck me that one must have a goal when you are trying to increase knowledge.
Gain knowledge from the lap of your mother to your grave.

Al Kahf V.45-63
True Worth

d present to them the example of the life of this world, [its being] like rain which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it and [then] it becomes dry remnants, scattered by the winds. And Allāh is ever, over all things, Perfect in Ability. [Al Kahf:45]
I learnt a very important lesson from this verse about the worth of the worldly life. I find myself distracted from worship sometimes due to things of the world. The life of this world is like the rain which comes down and benefits for a while and then the ground and plants are dry and back to their original state. The benefit from this world that we gather with so much desire will only be of use temporarily. It is our duty as a believer to aspire towards the hereafter.

Al Kahf V.27-44
A Perished Garden

And present to them an example of two men: We granted to one of them two gardens of grapevines, and We bordered them with palm trees and placed between them [fields of] crops. [Al Kahf:32]
Upon reading this verse I imagined the most beautiful garden that I could and thought about how happy I would be if I had such a possession. Through this example we saw the difference between the two men- one was mighty in wealth and number and the other was poor in this sense, however, he was very grateful to Allah (swt).
The biggest lesson that I learnt from this example was that whatever good we have is from Allah (swt) and we must say “Mashallah” or it could be the cause of us losing that thing.
And his fruits were encompassed [by ruin], so he began to turn his hands about [in dismay] over what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises, and said, “Oh, I wish I had not associated with my Lord anyone.” [Al Kahf:42]
The crucial point to note is that claiming Allah’s glory will be a source of regret for us. If you have anything pleasing and think you have done something to earn it then you have associated with Allah (swt). Do not let it get to the point where you only realize what you are doing when you have lost what is dear to you.

Al Kahf V.9-26
Remain Firm

And We made firm their hearts when they stood up and said, “Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. Never will we invoke besides Him any deity. We would have certainly spoken, then, an excessive transgression. [Surah Al-Kahf: 14]
The young companions of the cave, who were also the believing minority of their town, had the strength to stand up and speak out affirming Allah’s oneness. Allah made their heart firm because they wanted to remain firm upon Islam. They knew what was right and wrong and they did not compromise their religion because of the norm of society. This is a lesson for us, that even though we Muslims are a minority in the west, it does not mean we can negotiate our faith. Islam is a way of life and it should be engraved within our hearts no matter where we are in the world.

Al Kahf V.1-8
Blessing Of Qur’an

[He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward. [Al Kahf:2]
Today after reading this verse I felt such a sudden spurt of happiness because I feel so blessed that I am part of such a beautiful course. I mean what is better than learning the Qur’an? This verse really made me think about how lucky I am to be learning the words of Allah (swt).

Subhanallah! This verse shows the perfection of Allah (Swt) there is no way that he can be questioned. He has given the Qur’an to us as a gift. If we did not have the Qur’an we would not know our purpose or what we have to do to please Him. We should be thankful that Allah (swt) has given us the most beautiful speech.
