Family Reunion

And when they entered upon Joseph, he took his brother to himself; he said, “Indeed, I am your brother, so do not despair over what they used to do [to me].” [Yusuf:69]
Yusuf (as) meets his brother after so many years. They have not had contact for a very long time and the first thing he says to him is not to despair. There are many things we can learn from the way that Yusuf (as) speaks. Firstly we should not start saying things like “I know they are so bad and they always hurt us but..” instead of making the reunion happy it would have turned into complaining central. We can see that Yusuf (as) did not want Benjamin to have any bad feelings towards his brothers but also wanted him to know that there was no need to despair.
