Surah Al Baqarah V.183-188
The Beauty of Marriage
Student of Al Huda
It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them.[Al Baqarah:187]
This verse of the Quran reveals the basic purpose and concept of marriage in Islam. Islam enjoins that a wife and husband should have the most intimate and loving relationship. Each should cover, protect, and safeguard the interests of the other partner. This profound and revolutionary verse has the following 5 practical implications:
1- The fact that man and woman are considered garments to each other suggests that both have an equal status in sharing the responsibilities of marriage.
2- As the garment covers the body in such a way that there is nothing between the garment and the body, the husband and wife should be so close and intimate to each other that there should be no secrets between them. Both confide fully in each other and share their joys and sorrows without any hesitation. (more…)

The month of Rememberance
Rushda Haq (Group Fatima)
Even before this course I think most of us knew these ayahs and were familiar with them…even “non-practising” muslims try to “be practising” in Ramadan. Just a few ayahs cause so much hustle and bustle in our lives for one twelvth of the year…should not the whole Quran create such movement and action in our whole life?

Why is the month of Ramadan seen as being so sacred? If we think back we remember that it is in this month that the holy Qur’an was revealed and so the month plays an important part in the life of a muslim. Usually during this month we remember Allah and the Qur’an very much which is good but is also upsetting because once the month is over the idea of remembering the Qur’an usually goes too.
As muslims we should always remember the glory of the Qur’an and why exactly it is that we were given such a miracle. We should remember to take heed and apply the commands of Allah in our life. This is not something that should only take place one month out of the year. We should instill within ourselves such a love for the Qur’an that we spend as much time with the Qur’an as possible.
