Righteousness

Righteousness is to believe in Allah, the last day, the angels, the Book and the prophets. Belief is not just knowing that yes these things exist but it also refers to taking action and securing oneself for the afterlife. If you believe in Allah you will fear Him and do good, if you believe in the last day you will make sure you accumulate good deeds, if you believe in the angels you will watch everything you say and do as each is recorded and you know they will take your life. In this manner believing is not only to acknowledge but also to take action as well.
  One must also give wealth even if it may be your most worthy possession. Wealth is a test for everyone, those who have none are working hard to get some and those who have lots are still not satisfied. In giving your wealth despite the love one has for it shows that person is not only worried about their lives but that of others also. One should give wealth to relatives, orphans, the needy, travelers and also those who ask for help and in order to free a slave. Many of these people are vulnerable in society and we should assist them as much as we possibly can.
